Textures

Yesterday I finally got around to doing some more textures. It is always exciting to shoot something that can surprise you. This is a simple, long-term project of shooting various textures. Mostly art paper but also cloth, wood, stone, rope, just about anything that really catches my eye. These were taken using the 4X5 and a 120mm Rodenstock APO Macro at f/22. The light was a single Profoto 600w/s strobe with barn doors on the reflector. The light was placed to shine across the surface to create the maximum amount of shadows.
The top photo is of a piece of burlap with a defect running from the top edge down and to the left. The other is more art paper lying on a sheet of black paperboard. I love the delicate nature of this paper and this closeup really shows just how delicate it is.
This set consists of 5 different photos, these are my favorites of the set.
I also did a couple of florals with the 8X10 yesterday be was in a mode of making as many mistakes as possible in a few photos.
